While working as a Building Scientist, Shaan Cory spent his days manually tuning HVAC systems to reduce energy waste and operational carbon in client buildings.

Dr. Shaan Cory
Founder & CEO
Shaan Cory is a building scientist with a PhD and a career spent inside the HVAC systems of large commercial buildings. Before founding BTune, he worked hands-on tuning HVAC systems across offices, universities, hotels, and civic buildings, experience that exposed how inefficient most buildings are and how impossible it is to fix that at scale through manual work.
Shaan founded BTune to automate this process and make continuous, verified HVAC optimization accessible to any building. Under his leadership, BTune has grown from early pilots inside Beca to deployments across millions of square feet, delivering measurable energy and carbon reductions for customers.
Talei Blomfield
Chief Operating Officer
Talei Blomfield is an operations and delivery specialist with more than a decade of experience leading technical, engineering, and digital teams. Before joining BTune, she held senior roles at several early-stage SaaS companies where she managed large programs, complex stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams across Australia and New Zealand.
At BTune, Talei oversees day-to-day operations, and customer delivery, ensuring the company’s technology and engineering work is executed accurately, reliably, and to a standard that meets the expectations of major property owners.

Mark Spencer
Board Member & Advisor
Mark is the Group Director - Built Form at Beca where he provides executive leadership to the global buildings business, consisting of more than 850 professionals distributed across New Zealand, Australia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. He is a Chartered Structural Engineer with over 30 years' industry experience. Prior to assuming various line management roles, he led the design of numerous large and complex projects including the $250 million Macau Tower and Entertainment Centre, the redevelopment of Glenfield and Northland Shopping Centres in New Zealand, and the WG Precinct Development at Auckland University of Technology.
Thomas Hyde

Thomas is the Chief Transformation & Innovation Officer at Beca where he is responsible for leading programs of enterprise transformation and change, unlocking our creativity, and targeting this at the most pressing customer needs. Thomas joined Beca in 1995 and was appointed an Executive Director in 2016. Throughout his varied career, he has developed expertise in an eclectic mix of technical and business subjects – from chemical engineering and academic research, to engineering consulting, new business incubation, executive leadership, and corporate governance. His insights and leadership have put Beca on the map in the areas of business performance, asset performance and applied technology, including leading the development of a range of services, focused on helping clients exploit and adapt to technology-led disruption of their businesses.
Mark Fleming
Board Member & Advisor
Mark is the Chief Financial Officer at Beca. He joined in 1999 as International Accounting Manager and, as the Beca Group grew and matured, he transitioned into broader finance and executive leadership roles. He was appointed Beca's Group Finance Director in 2013 and took on his current role as Chief Finance Officer in April 2016. Mark is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of CPA Australia, and holds a Masters’ in Commerce from the University of Auckland.
