Minimize the Performance Gap

Post-Occupancy Tuning

Multiple studies have found that the overwhelming majority of newly constructed buildings waste energy because their HVAC systems are not operated in accordance with the design intent, were not commissioned thoroughly, or do not operate to energy-efficiency best practices.

For buildings following a major refurbishment or new construction, starting within 12 months of practical completion, post-occupancy building tuning delivers 13% average annual energy reductions.

Benefits of Post-Occupancy Tuning

  • Promote a smooth transition from system commissioning, minimizing the performance gap between design intent and actual operation by actively flushing out and identifying defects to be resolved under contract works using BTune’s library of Fault Detection Diagnostic Analytics.

  • Further improve performance over time with continuous monitoring, diagnostics, and auto- correction by applying a proven Automated System Optimization (ASO) technology that helps to continuously tune all HVAC-related systems to ensure they are operating at best-practice efficiency, improving visibility into HVAC operation to empower more informed operating decisions.

  • Work towards improved occupant comfort while reducing the frequency of hot/cold maintenance calls and HVAC plant run times, which could help delay plant renewal by several years.

  • Enable faster response times to resolve issues and have less reliance on controls contractors for identifying issues.

  • Make progress toward your sustainability, net zero, energy-efficiency, and/or other ESG goals by ensuring the strongest building rating possible.

  • Position more competitively for new tenants by reducing annual energy consumption by 13% on average.
